Controlling work time

Here is a question for you to consider.

If you could choose a four hour work slot in your weekday, what would it be?

Like to play golf in the morning?  So how about 1-5pm

Want to be there for your children’s drop off and pick up from school? 10am-2pm should do it.

Prefer to get the work out of the way to enjoy other activities later? 8am-12 is the answer.

A very common gripe you will hear of driving instructors who offer pay as you go driving lessons is that they don’t feel in control of their working day. Pupils will often want lessons in the most awkward times, just when it clashes with things that you want to do.

The BIG TOM franchise enables you to take back control. Literally – control when you work in the day.

Our customers book their training programme’s well in advance and all BIG TOM Admin needs to know is when you want to work. When we speak to customers, we can then advise them accordingly. Because they are booking so far in advance, it is very likely that they can make arrangements aligned to the “sweet spot” that improves your work/life balance.

Let’s consider the pay as you go driving lessons schedule:

Next Monday you have in your diary, John at 7.45am as he needs to be in his school for 8.50am. The next lesson is at 10am with Tess but she does tend to be late getting in the car, so it’s likely to be more like 10.15am. Then there is a bit of a wait until Greg at 2pm, he likes to do a 2 hour lesson but he doesn’t do them each week.

It’s still 4 hours worth of work, but you have to be up at 6.30am to prep for the first lesson, and you will get back home at 4.30pm. There is no accommodating school runs in this schedule. There is no ability to help with child minding for your daughter as the times change so much. You are not in control of your working life.

Most people like to have stability in their working routine, they also like to be able to consistently fit in to their day, activites that they enjoy – and importantly, know that this will happen.

It would not be uncommon for example for a BIG TOM customer to book up a 40 hour course involving a mid-day to 4pm run of sessions. Just think about this for a moment. You know months in advance what hours you are going to work, you will be paid for the work 21 days in advance, and the cancellation rates of these courses is virtually zero.  Two weeks of 12-4pm, now that is likely to bring a whole different experience to your work.
